Members Code of Conduct

Mission:

Leagues/tournaments and drop in play which are held at Neon Ranch Pinball aim to create & preserve an inclusive, safe, and welcoming community by setting expectations for all those who hold memberships, as well as being a resource to those who have questions or concerns regarding player behaviour or rule interpretation.

Our goal is to provide a high quality pinball experience that is fun for first-time and long-time pinball players of all skills levels. We aim to create a welcoming environment where pinball players of all backgrounds can gather to learn, compete, and celebrate pinball. By being a member, dropping in to play and/or participating in our events, players are agreeing to abide by our Code of Conduct. Players who violate these standards may be warned, suspended, or banned from participating in future Neon Ranch pinball Pinball events. We reserve the right to revoke anyones membership for whatever reason we see fit.

What we expect of you:

Be kind to yourself, each other, and the space you're in. Be aware of how your behaviour might affect the people around you, and treat all players, tournament directors, venue staff, pinball machines, and equipment with respect. Manage your emotions (e.g. stress response) in a way that does not negatively impact others.

Work together to ensure that all pinball spaces we inhabit together are free from harassment. Our Code of Conduct applies to the tournaments we run and drop in hours and takes into account behaviour displayed at community-related social activities and online activities in both public and private channels. Disagreements should be handled constructively and maturely. Make sure you are respectful in how you navigate the pinball world, and model positive behaviour for others.

We are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone and will not tolerate:

  • Ableism

  • Ageism

  • Body Shaming

  • Bullying

  • Disrespectful Behaviour

  • Homophobia

  • Racism

  •
 Sexism

  •
 Transphobia

As we continue to grow, it is imperative that we clearly define acceptable and unacceptable behaviour in order to honour the mission and values that make our leagues and tournaments safe and fun. If you witness any harassment or questionable behaviour, please notify a TD or Neon Ranch Staff as soon as you feel safe in doing so, either in person or via email. Emails are located at the end of this document. Your message will be responded to quickly and discreetly. If a TD or Neon Ranch Staff is the harasser or victim in an incident, they will recuse themselves from the process.

In short, if someone or something makes you feel uncomfortable, it is worth letting us know about it. We are always ready to help you feel safe in our space.

How we expect issues to be handled:

If you are asked to stop doing something that makes another player uncomfortable, you are expected to comply immediately.
Harassment of someone not affiliated with an event which occurs during league/tournament or free play hours also falls under these guidelines. Additionally, harassment transpiring in any pinball event, regardless of whether or not it is held by a league or tournament which utilizes this code of conduct, may be subject to the same repercussions discussed below at league officials’ discretion.

Any harassment, expressed threats, or violent actions may result in immediate ejection from league/tournament or free play with a revoke of your membership and a permanent ban from future events and drop in. Actions may also be reported to the BC IFPA directors, VPL, IFPA and may be subject to further discipline per their entities discretion.

    Aggression Toward Inanimate Objects

Abusive handling of machines outside the parameters of normal play during league/tournament and drop in play (including warm-ups) is grounds for a warning. Destruction or damage to the Neon Ranch property our surrounding private property or the property of other players is also grounds for a warning, ejection from the event and revoke of membership, and permanent ban. This includes sliding machines, bang backs or death saves, excessively hitting flipper buttons or anything else the Neon Ranch Pinball Staff deems excessive. Repeated warnings can lead to more severe consequences such as ejection or permanent ban with revoked membership.

Interactions with Staff or Event Officials

Any player who behaves rudely or inappropriately toward tournament directors and volunteers, league officials or Neon Ranch Employees may be warned, disqualified or asked to leave the facility immediatley, at the tournament director’s discretion. Tournament director rulings are final and always in the best interest of fair play. Please keep in mind that your tournament directors and league officials have an official set of rules that they are making rulings from. Please also remember that tournament directors and league officials volunteer their time to run these events and are handling multiple questions or ruling concerns most of the time, so your patience is always appreciated during interactions.

Be a Good Sport

Excessive gloating, pouting, or complaining that interferes with other players’ enjoyment may result in warnings or disqualification.
